Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is a special declaration of the greatness of Allah, recited after every obligatory (fard) prayer during a specific period in Dhul Hijjah. It begins after Fajr on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (the Day of Arafah) and continues until Asr on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah, spanning five days.
Transliteration:
Allāhu Akbar, Allāhu Akbar, Lā ilāha illa Allāh, wa Allāhu Akbar, Allāhu Akbar, wa lillāhil-ḥamd.
Translation:
Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.

Who Should Recite Takbeer-e-Tashreeq?
• All adult Muslims, men and women, whether at home or traveling.
• It is to be recited whether praying individually or in congregation.
• Men should recite it aloud, especially in public or group settings.
• Women may recite it softly.
This practice is emphasized during the days of Dhul Hijjah, particularly in Islamic education and online Quran programs.

When Should It Be Recited?
• Immediately after each fard (obligatory) prayer, right after the tasleem (saying as-salāmu ʿalaykum).
• Best recited without delay, before any talking or moving away.
• It is not recited after sunnah or nafl (voluntary) prayers.
• If fard prayers are missed and made up later during this period, the Takbeer should still be recited after them.

Is It Obligatory or Sunnah?
• Sunnah Mu’akkadah (highly emphasized Sunnah) according to the Ḥanafī, Mālikī, and Shāfiʿī schools.
• Considered wājib (obligatory) by the Ḥanafī school for those not on Hajj.
• Even if one misses some prayers during the Takbeer period, they should still say the Takbeer after making them up.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Reciting it after sunnah or nafl prayers (which is not prescribed).
• Men reciting it silently instead of aloud.
• Assuming Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is only for pilgrims—it applies to all Muslims.
